face it, as the Monmouth to Brecon Canal is no longer navigable through
Cwmbran (and never will be), it is best treated as a recreational
area. Better than restoring an old lock, the result of which is
usually a dingy dark and dangerous pit, is a water feature. Much
more pleasant, practical and easy to keep the weeds down. You don't often
see a canal lined with street lights.
What better way to spend the heat-wave days of mid May 2008 than strolling along a cooling canal?
